The PAL project is headed to a major presence in the Law & Society Global Meeting that is happening in Lisbon, Portugal, from July 13-16, 2022.
Four paper sessions and two roundtables will feature PAL research.
An initial roundtable will serve as the project’s open house event, designed to share information on PAL’s history, organization, and plans with the larger sociolegal community.
A comparative panel will follow, where presenters and discussants will give the state-of-the-art of autocratic legalism in Brazil, India, South Africa, the US, and beyond.
A few country sessions will follow: two paper sessions will focus on Brazil, and one will focus on India. South Africa will be the subject of one roundtable.
A final paper session will be comparative, featuring studies on Brazil, India, South Africa, and the US.
Following the LSA Meeting, PAL participants will remain together for a 1-day workshop, where they will discuss current drafts and strategize the project’s expansion.
