Michelle Ratton Sanchez Badin

Michelle Ratton Sanchez Badin is a Full-time associate professor at FGV Sao Paulo Law School. She received her PhD (2004) and a Bachelor’s (1998) from the Law School of the University of São Paulo. Her research focuses on understanding the legal instruments that support international economic relations, starting from Brazil, and how instruments in the field of International Economic Law guide other fields of social relations. There is also interest in understanding who are the actors, in the field of law, who mobilize such instruments, and how they do it. The studies have national (UFRGS and IRI/USP, among others) and international partnerships (the University of Sydney, University of Wollongong, University of Oxford, University of California-Irvine, NYU, World Trade Institute, Universidad Externado de Colombia, ITAM, Jindal University, and University of Witwatersrand, among others). She is currently one of the coordinators of the Nucleus of Global Law and Development of FGV Sao Paulo Law School, and of the WTO Chair Program in Brazil. Having focused her research on the field of International Economic Law, she was one of the founders of the Society of International Economic Law (SIEL), is director of the Red Latinoamericana de Derecho Económico Internacional, and of the International Law Association / Brazil. In her research, she received scholarships from FAPESP, CNPq, and CAPES, and participated in projects with other national and international funding.
